the Emperor

i’m SO PROUD of adrian @ uncle, dinosour..!
he and yuri started out their own ‘company’ called the Factory
and its based in Hartamas.
Yuri is the music producer while adrian is into film production.

adrian has always aspired to produce feature films.
his movie studio @ the Factory is very well equipped with production and post production facilities.
and this i’m not kidding u!
i’ve been there, seen his stuff, and boy is this man ever proud of his equipment!
and gosh, u should get him to show u his sound system.
i’ve always loved listening to movie soundtracks in his little studio.
feels like u’re right there with the musicians!
plus the sofa is so damn comfy~
oh! and have i mentioned that he absolutely loves movie soundtracks?
:)

well, backtracking a little, adrian and his ’partner-in-crime’, Juliane Block recently did the music video for Frequency Cannon’s popular hit single entitled Girl.

(i personally thought dino would have been a better lead)

and if u ask me, i think these duo are one to look out for!
they’re really good at what they do, they’re creative, and they really have the passion and drive!
i’ve always liked how adrian’s eyes and face would light up when he’s talking bout his movies and his equipment and his music!
u rarely see such genuine enthusiastic spirit in people these days
(or maybe i’m just hanging out with waaaaay too ‘mature’ ppl)

ANYHOW, they’ve also recently just produced an independent international release movie!
its called the Emperor.
i’ve personally not seen it yet due to all the practices and stress for penang
but since its adrian and juliane, i can pretty much guarantee that its going to be AWESOME!

okay, enough of my rambling,
this is the write up to the Emperor.

“Emperor” by Juliane Block (Malaysia / Germany 2008, 90min)
Produced by The Factory Movie Studio & J-Blockbuster

Filmsynopsis:
Based on the novel, EMPEROR is a murder mystery wrapped in an Asian crime thriller.

Po Sin, Victor and Felix grew up in the shadow of a major Malaysian crime figure. Their lives get complicated as a series of events suck Po Sin and Victor deep into the triad world while they struggle to protect Felix from a similar fate. A triad war erupts with Hong Kong gangs over lucrative international human trafficking contracts, while personal ambitions take their own toll. The Malaysian police hound Victor over an alleged string of sex crimes and matters spiral out of control.

so there u have it
i’m going to watch it as soon as i get back from penang!
i mean, i wouldnt give up the chance to watch adrian acting hahaha
and besides, they’ve put a lot of hardwork and effort into this movie
so watch it, let me or them know how u feel about it!

happy watching!
:)

juno

i was sceptical about this movie at first.
the ‘cover art’ looked so, amature
but once the movie started, my scepticism began to fade.
i found that i was actually enjoying the movie!
and i think what was most captivating was the fact that the lines were brilliant!
the things that juno says, the things that she blurts are instantaneous and spunky
i remember sitting there thinking that i’ll never even begin to think of these sort of come-back lines
so meaning the script writer had to have a wild imagination.

a lot of people may dislike these sort of movies cos it can be a little ditzy and kiddish
but if u’re not looking for something that is serious, this would be a good one to watch
it guarantees laughter
and of course it shows how, sometimes, the decisions we make bears consequences that are visible to the world
and the responsibility of such consequences can be taken up quite simply.
it also shows how, in a teenager’s life, experiences are experiences.
once in the past, its in the past.
then they move on to other things life has to offer

good one.
do catch it.

atonement

i’ve always wanted to watch this movie in the cinema
but no one wanted to so i finally went and got the dvd.
heard so much about it.
a love story spanning throughout the years and the course of a few people’s lives that changed based on an assumption of a little girl driven by jealousy and naivety.

i must say, atonement is a beautiful movie.
such a beautiful story.
and the saddest of which was in the last ten minutes when the older briony was talking about her ’confession’.
what a life to live.
to survive and to live thru the regret and the guilt of knowing that u single handedly ruined two lives that was to be whole and beautiful.

its a gorgeous classic of a love story.
adding on to that would be the soundtrack.
i think it was a brilliant idea to include the sounds of the type writer in briony’s theme.
but my personal favorite would be the sad guilt ridden theme of the last ten mins.
the way they used the cello to bring out the tenor tones in your emotions.
it provokes an emotion u’d wish u’d never have to go thru.
and to weave the cello with the violin and the harmonica was to introduce the feelings of regret, regret that comes in waves, and the memories of how things were and how things could have been.
so absolutely perfect.
makes u want to sit by the window, stare out to sea, reliving all the lost memories of yester-years

a must watch.
really.
its not like the holiday, nor is it like pride and prejudice.
its like a mix between the red violin and the notebook.
but i might be wrong.
no matter, its still a really good movie.

the movie – in the name of the king

OMG~!

ppl, if u’re thinking of watching this movie, PLEASE DONT!

went to watch it today with charles and michael and gosh was it ever so horrible!

first of all, the cast was all wrong for that era….
i took a look at them and started laughing! i mean, come on…..~!
be a bit smarter and pick ppl who’d suit the era!
and not only that, the scenes are so choppy!
there was barely any continuity to the scenes..
but i guess the lack of continuity was due to the lack of a STORY to begin with!

what made this movie 5% bareable is due to the fact that we sat there laughing at all the cheesy lines that they had..
oh oh! i forgot to mention, they had the MOST predictable lines in the history of films!
we just sat there giggling and pointing out little mistakes and of course speaking the lines before they were spoken..
and we were spot on!

this movie is like a sad mix between top gun and robin hood; men in tights and lord of the rings…
cheesy man… cheesy!

goodness… PLEASE do not watch this movie..!
i BEG u…

eh, got free ticket ah?…

went for harith and jit’s show yesterday night…
dsc02098.jpg
was a stand up comedy..
harith darling booked me a ticket so when i got there there wasnt much of a hassle getting one :)

there were many ppl waiting outside actors studio @ bangsar
and according to harith, the show was sold out..
dsc02095.jpg
yea yea they got my name wrong..
the house wasnt full thou..
there were a couple of empty seats here and there..
elaine daly, carmen soo and patrick teoh was in the crowd..
amazingly this crowd was responsive..
i guess its cos there were older working people as opposed to a younger youth/student group
and that they understood the jokes and what was going on..

well, it started out with the opening act, zak ‘papi’ kamal
dont know whether he is new or not but i didnt find him funny
solely based on the fact that i think he is trying too hard to be russell peters
u can see it from his dressing, the way he does some of his actions, the way he talks..
i think he should just be himself and it’ll be much better..
and granted, he was very nervous and he was panting
at one point i thought he was going to lose it and run off stage..
or just freeze..
oh well, i’ll give him the benefit of the doubt..

than jit murad came on..
he has the whole british old school look about him..
the way he talks it rather slow and elaborated
his jokes were crudely funny thou..
loved his impersonations
and for the fact that he had the ’music stand’ in front of him and a songkok on it,
it looked like he was a pastor that is sesat on stage..
hahahahahaha…
and i liked it when he said he was going to call his next show ’eat, jit and die’
ahahaha…

harith came on last..
his set was the longest…
i think he did a great job..
well, its harith iskander we’re talking about
how can he not be good, right? hahaha
some of the stuff he said sounded ’familiar’..
hmmmm…
i think those conversations are getting somewhere
ahahahahahahaha..
ooooooh oooooooooohhh
i absolutely loved the csi joke..
and, its harith laaaa…..
he puts a lot of effort into them..
heart and effort
so of course what he says are always top form!

so ppl, if u are interested, please book your tickets in advance!
their shows are always a hit
and there is a possibility that most of the shows are already sold out..

every other day, zak will be opening for them..
on friday however, jj and rudy from hitz.fm will be the opening act..
douglas lim will only be doing the saturday show if i’m not mistaken

btw harith, who did the backdrop?
i LOVE it!
as u can barely see from the picture below,
dsc02096.jpg
its nice… but there is that annoying glare from the spot lights and my phone cannot filter it!
grrrrrrrrr

anyhow, this is a good one
do check it out!
u wont regret it..
:)

gua.com.my

that is gua’s commercial. and yes, i’m being a little vain putting it up.. but can u really blame me? its my first commercial wei! hahahaha… now try and spot me! :)  not sure whether u’ve seen it on tv before or not (i personally haven’t cos i don’t watch tv) but this is a really good site (i’m not being bias!!)..

its very informative.. has everything you want.. ranging from entertainments, lifestyle, relationship tips, interviews with celebs/musicians, forums, links to blogs, photography, horoscope, dedications, videos and a lot more!

for those of you who knows me well enough, you’d know that i’ve got a very short attention span. which is why i’m constantly looking for things to do, places to go, even if its for a quiet night out.. and one fine night when i was sitting in front of my computer being a facebook addict (yes! i admit it! i’m an addict..~), i remembered there is this thing called gua.com.my… so i went to check it out.. and just so happen the first section that caught my eye was the ‘cool happenings’ section…. and there was where i found out that i forgot about an event that i was interested in checking out! saved my life sial… not means i would have been a sad case sitting in front of the computer.. again… with facebook…. hahahahaha… oh oh… and in addition to that, the photo gallery helps too! cos sometimes we cannot attend everything that is out there so the pictures that are constantly being updated really helps!

on another note, i’m personally not a huge fan of celeb gossips (unless i’ve really got nothing else to do).. but there is a section for you peeps out there who would love to be updated on all them gossips of  your fav/local celebs… honestly, if it were me, i would love to keep my private life private… but i guess it is publicity to a certain extend… ah well…….

my fav section would be the food and jalan-jalan section… its really annoying when we’re all out and everyone has no idea where to makan… and we sit there in the car or anywhere for hours trying to decide on where to eat… and with this section at least now i know that there are certain other places in kl that i’ve never heard of.. and we get to explore.. and possibly get lost en-route! mwahahahaha….

for those of you who has some nagging questions that you’ve always been too shy to ask, you can always send in your question to ‘ask amy’ and she’ll answer your questions with you staying anonymous…. OR, you could always come ask me as well… hahahahaha… i cannot guarantee a non-comical answer but i hope i can be of help? :)

that said, just check out the site laaaaaa….. you’ll definitely find something that will tickle your fancy… be it blogs or videos or certain forums… just give it a try… it wont kill u! promise! :)
